Lindsay

Jacobs

Biography

Lindsay Jacobs was born in Wayland,  Massachusetts. As a young girl, she found solace in her imagination, and found that doodling was a way to control her compulsive thoughts. She would use any medium in sight to foster her creativity, or distract herself. In most cases, her artistic endeavors were explored on her math or science worksheets. In her sophomore year of highschool she got a job at the local elementary school as an assistant to the art teacher. This experience opened her eyes to the arts' impact on humans. What emotions it brings out of them, how creating makes them feel, if it stimulates them, or if it stresses them out. Lindsay continued on to study painting, drawing, and photography at the University of Colorado Denver. Lindsay moved to Denver at 18 and began realizing the rest of the world was very different from her bubble of suburbia. Living in Denver, An acute awareness of the increase in violence against women consumed her creativity and entire being.  She began paying attention to the world around her, the casual objectification, sexualization, and language around the female body enraged her. There isn't one trauma or story that defines her work or herself as an artist, she simply makes art about what consumes her. She obtained her BFA in Art practices in 2022.
